Worship is at the center of our life together as a church. At First Presbyterian, our worship seeks to both glorify God and celebrate the blessing of community and creation that surround us.
SUNDAY
Our regular Sunday worship service takes place in the Sanctuary at 10am. On holidays and during festival seasons (such as Advent and Lent), the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated each week. During the rest of the year, the Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first and third Sundays. First Presbyterian practices “open” communion. All who put their faith in Jesus Christ, regardless of church affiliation, are welcome to the table.
Special worship services are held throughout the year including:
- Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
- Ash Wednesday
- Maundy Thursday
- Good Friday Tenebrae
- Easter Sunrise Service
ADULT CHOIR
First Presbyterian has a traditional choir composed of members from our congregation. All are welcome in our choir! The choir sings traditional and contemporary songs in order to lead the congregation in its worship as well as in times of meditation. We believe that we have one of the BEST Adult Choirs around.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR
Children’s Choir participates and leads in worship in various ways. We are glad to have such a great group of kids!
ACOLYTES
Children serve in worship as acolytes. The acolytes process during the opening hymn and light the candles on the communion table. The role of the acolyte is a centuries old tradition in the church. At First Presbyterian, acolyting is an opportunity for our children to take a leadership role in worship.
